<0> DevilKnight: can you be a little more verbose, please?
<0> I'm trying to understand what went wrong, but I need to understand how you did it.
<1> use CD to install
<0> CD of what?
<1> linux CD
<0> which Linux distribution?
<1> redhat ES version 4
<0> you can probably call Redhat and obtain support
<0> if you bought an Enterprise Server CD, that is
<0> is that computer dedicated to Linux? Or are you dual-booting?
<1> not dedicated

<4> hello
<1> diy system
<1> is that the reason?
<0> could be
<0> how big is your hard disk?
<1> 15GB
<0> how recent is your computer?
<1> it a P4 1.6
<1> 600++ SDRAM
<0> it should be able to handle that disk just fine
<0> something went wrong with your GRUB installation. Try booting from the CD again and tell it to repair the installation.
<1> can u guide me thru?
<1> i reboot the system now ...with a rescuedisk
<1> it now at the screen ....press enter to install....etc......

<7> hello does anyone review sites here
<8> when installing the ati drivers, while running aticonfig, the software expects two files (one is libfglrx_pp.so.1.0) to be at some specific place on the system which i am unable to locate. does anybody know where to i need a softlink? what directory the ati drivers expect (using 32bit ubuntu, 32bit ati drivers) thanks for any help
<4> see .. told ja its a blog

<3> keivan, did you install via apt ?
<4> Invisable, gimme the link ..
<4> Al-Ashtar, post something interesting
<8> Simpleguy: your name is what i am. i downloaded the software from the ati site and just dit something like: sudo sh ati_filename ...
<7> http://www.virdel.com
<5> Simpleguy: thank you
<3> keivan, take a look at this: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Installation_Guide
<7> what do u think Routermen
<3> keivan, the recommended method is doing it with apt
<5> Routermen: like the size of my underwear ?
<8> oh. i see. Simpleguy, i suppose this is too ate now? or should i do that again using apt?
<4> cl***y, corporate style interface .. pretty boring tho
<8> i already have a control panel in my startmenu (ati controlpanel) it just doesn't work
<4> Al-Ashtar, : There are currently 1 stupid user online , ali
<5> yup that's me

<7> Routerman
<4> hehe
<7> will it be of any use to you
<7> or if u can review it
<3> keivan, see if there is an uninstallation script that came with the package you downloaded
<4> Invisable, : no not really .. i buy stuffs .. never sell anything
<5> how the hell do I remove this "edit primary links
<8> nope. or at least, i don't think so.
<5> how the hell do I remove this "edit primary links" link
<4> and i dont buy anything from the net accept pay bills
<7> ohh alrite i see no problem
<4> well thats not even considered buying online
<5> and don't tell me by editing the primary links
<4> :P
<7> it would be appreciate if u forward to some people or ure friends
<4> Al-Ashtar, : man blog ?
<7> just some support is appreciated
<4> :D)
<10> support?
<7> yeah like registering and trying my system etc
<4> Al-Ashtar, : more like a portal than a blog to me
<4> There are currently 1 user and 3 guests online, one of the guests are very beautiful
<5> thank you Routermen :D
<5> that's so sweet of you
<4> bah
<4> im off
<4> cya
<8> Simpleguy: thank you very much for your ati link. following those instructions i was actually able to succesfully install the driver. now just still the dual screen option (ati control panel accepts my input but does not change the xorg.conf file, it seems...)
<8> Simpleguy: if you also had a link for an xorg.conf with dual monitor support in ubuntu...
<11> kevinb : while simpleguy's checking (if he has one, that is)... have you bounced around google looking for a sample, yet? What you're asking for probably isn't TOO exotic of a config. I imagine there's some stuff out on the net, already.
<3> I am sorry, I do not have a multi-screen xorg.conf
<11> bad Simpleguy! BAD!
<12> hey all
<8> simmy: yes you are absolutely right. but i must be doing something wrong, as i had been searching for the ati installation instructions as well without being able to find one. but i will find that one myself, so thank you again
<11> heh. I"ve only ever done multi-screen on a windows box.
<11> kevinb ; in th epast, multi-screen stuff was done with xinerama. Don't know if that's still the case or not.
<11> dual=-screen is also frequently called "dual-head"
<11> (just a few keywords to search for)
<8> simmy: thx
<5> simmy: if a user registers in my site, he waits for an email. but my computer doesn't have a mail server. would he still get an email ?
<11> probably not. :)
<5> then I should setup a mail server.
<5> postfix is a mail server ?
<13> jup
<14> what about horde ?
<13> its a smtp thing. to send mail
<13> horde?
<14> yes ?
<14> what is it ?
<11> postfix, exim, sendmail, qmail (I recommend one of the first two)
<13> hm http://www.horde.org/about/
<15> he lies, he recommends qmail
<11> BULL****!
<11> qmail works great. But it's a pain in the *** and has a really crappy license.
<5> he was happy to get rid of qmail. afaik
<15> and requires you to install supporting tools
<11> and if you ever want support on it, you're screwed cause NO ONE actually knows how it works.
<15> and is obsolete
<13> then if you want pop/imap, courier is a choise
<5> there is no .deb for postfix
<15> yes there is
<15> the hell there isn't
<15> there's even an official one
<15> we use it
<13> http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?searchon=names&version=all&exact=1&keywords=postfix
<16> um
<16> There is.
<5> I meant for ubuntu
<11> nsx : I THINK I've figured out the problem I was having with postfix... it's a sasl2 issue. It's not reading the smtpd.conf file. And I have NO idea where that file actually goes. I've got some googling to do.... cause all the docs I've seen so far are for older versions and I KNOW that the version I got installed isn't reading the config... or it wouldn't be bitching.
<13> http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?searchon=names&version=all&exact=1&keywords=postfix
<16> postfix - A high-performance mail transport agent
<15> probably /etc/postfix
<11> SO I get to do some more reading. I may even end up doing some tracing on the binary to figure out where it's trying to read a config from.
