<0> Well, blah. At least I figured out, today, how I'm going to provide secured websites with PHP for my website I'm building. Implmenting, however, is the fun part of it. heh
<1> now, if you don't have the either a recovery CD or your install CD, it's still possible to recover your p***word
<2> yes please ...
<1> but things become a little trickier
<2> i dont have the recovery cd
<3> do you have any account on the system?
<4> hi, anyone available for help?
<1> then you'll need to download one: like the RIP CD
<1> boot with that CD, mount the root partition of your HD
<4> anyone here available for newbie help?
<1> then use chroot to change to that mount point
<3> Ronamus: just ask the question
<2> hmmm
<1> then reset your p***word
<2> well that is very long prosses
<2> but looks good .. thanks for your help dp2_

<3> Doctor_Pk: always good to have a recovery cd
<1> np
<2> yes johnthethrasher
<4> thrasher, how do i install jre plugins onto firefox? i followed the instructions on the site but it's applicable to mozilla/netscape only.
<2> but dp2_ .. can i not just bump into the machine with some lame trick ... like sam files which uses in windows
<2> ?
<1> not if the machine is properly configured
<2> and if not then ?
<2> i mean there will be a way ... or a trick which can also give you root .
<3> Doctor_Pk: if its a somewhat recent distro then by default p***words would be shadowed
<2> ok
<1> the bootable or recovery CD is that trick :)
<5> hehee
<2> Ohh ... Thanks again man :P
<3> Ronamus: sun java site should have instructions
<2> johnthethrasher there are alot of them i think :P like one u said earlier that Expolit the lpr :P
<1> you won't be able to rely on any other method, because linux (and other *nixes) are highly tunable
<3> Doctor_Pk: i dont want to teach you any bad habbits
<1> some configs allow you to use the 3-finger salute to get in
<2> :P
<2> yes dp2_ now we talking :P
<1> but if /etc/initab is properly configured, then that won't work
<2> well in some cases just long press the tab and hold it down this can also give u the root :P
<2> well in some Type Linux1 this can also allow u in
<2> :p
<1> again, only if /etc/inittab isn't configured correctly
<3> Doctor_Pk: started the download of that iso for the recovery cd yet??
<2> but most distro i have seen ... allow you to log in with just a simple trick like log in as root1 and psswd Enter
<1> some gettys will lock you out for doing that
<2> hehe
<4> johnthethrasher: i did go there, followed their instructions, done the installation. what i am unable to do is to apply the plugin to firefox. and since i am a newbie, it doesnt help that the instructions were not firefox specific. i am limited to a few (very few) basic commands.
<2> yes dp2_ you are right
<2> but i think dp2_ that if u hav installed apache or samba on your machine then your chances are 200 % :P
<2> what do u think ??
<1> not necessarily
<2> yeah may be
<1> especially if you're dealing with samba 3
<1> also ***uming that PAM is configured sanely
<2> any way thanks alot man for your concerns. You have been very coperative ..
<1> np
<2> yes offcourse .
<2> ok see you soon
<2> bye
<1> ok :)
<0> Hey, anyone know if 16 chars is the /max/ username/groupname Linux can actually properly support or could it go up to 25?
<1> I think it's closer to 32--at least in some distros
<1> at least by default
<6> psi-jack: The only limitation I've hit is 8 characters, at which point talk fails
<1> and I think it's something that you can change, but you have to change it in the kernel source
<6> I never hit a higher limit, excluding with talk
<0> Hmm..
<0> Cool. Joomla's user database holds usernames up to 25 chars, so, I was gonna setup my nss-bridge for it, to keep that 25 for their nss-mapped username and group.
<7> ;mo
<8> ;mo
<0> Oh fun.
<8> ;mo
<6> I'm getting tired of the long lived bans.
<9> long live the king

<9> why dont you just declare jihad on laitila.fi
<9> or +R
<6> Its already banned.
<9> youset some overlapping ons
<9> ones
<6> Show me the overlapping bans on the banlist
<9> wow
<9> dalnet is getting smart
<10> it's been that way since they changed services over from the level-based chanserv....
<0> Oh, DAlnet finally vamped up services?
<9> no wait n/m those overlaps were removed manually
<9> i just didnt see it
<1> level-based chanserv?
<9> heh
<11> Greetings
<10> dp2_: yea, a while ago they had a chanserv that you could set user levels and set what level got voice and ops and such, wasn't around for too long
<1> interesting. what happened to that? :)
<10> idk
<10> I don't run services or anything
<10> was probably too confusing for people to set up and they got tired of helping people (that's my guess)
<11> ybbktfw onjoiner

<11> fark yeah
<14> neohack: what do you mean? be more specific.
<15> just to know how does the grub really works
<14> Are you interested in the inner workings of a bootloader or just how the configuration file works?
