<0> sorry, I don't know this one
<9> okay, what's the best distro for developer ?!?
<9> you know
<9> SQL,C++.... etc
<9> and java
<9> I mean I study CS
<10> Cognition: you there?
<0> any distro with developer tools I think
<10> Anyway, with Debian, what alternatives are there to installing GRUB (for booting)?
<9> okay I downloaded kuthuba
<9> it's was greeeeeeeeat but it's not contain dev. tools
<9> what's your recommanded
<0> hab: my information is very limited
<0> you need to ask someone who's been using linux for a long time
<9> okay , thanks a lot
<11> hab: you could use lilo (even tho personally I don't recommend it)
<0> Isaac-Lew: had is asking about the distro, the_ruthless is asking about grub
<9> okay I will try
<0> hehe
<0> hab lilo is not a distro
<9> hehehehe
<12> hab, apart from developer tools, do you want to learn linux in detail too?
<11> oh, sorry
<0> Isaac-Lew: how is that load going ?
<9> boredboy, why not ,it's deserve that
<6> rm -e dir ?
<0> -r
<6> oh yea
<13> j bnc
<9> boredboy , are you still here?!?
<12> hab, personally I'd start with something like debian or slackware. usually they help (or force) you to learn how to work with linux. usually when you can get around in those distros, moving to others is easy. Sometimes it's not so easy to go the other way
<12> hab, that is my opinion anyway. No doubt there will be a few comments about that :)
<9> actually I heared about debian and I will start with it
<0> good call
<9> and thanks for your advice
<0> although Boredboy knows what I would suggest
<0> let me give you a hint
<12> lol
<0> :P
<9> hehehe
<7> haha
<9> Actually I'm working under windows
<12> I've just been using slack for years now, debian before that and a short stint with RH at the start. I'm just used to it now.
<7> am working under windows as well, but accessing my server VIA Putty :P
<12> hab, unfortunately I'm stuck on windows in work too.
<0> me too
<0> "In a world without walls, no need for WINDOWS"
<14> another way to learn linux is to build your own
<9> I didn't believe about linux but when I installed kuthubu I changed my mind
<9> <14> another way to learn linux is to build your own
<9> this more funny
<0> wth is kuthubu
<11> restarted httpd, the lod's at 0.64 (for now)
<12> Al-Ashtar, guessing he means kubuntu
<0> yeah I think he means kubuntu
<0> hab: kubuntu is just like debian
<12> hab, http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/
<9> yes, it's kubuntu (the strange name)
<12> hab, that site shows you how to build your own linux, if you really want a challenge ;)
<15> yeah hab, but i have been using linux for 3 years now only on the GUI
<15> it doesnt teach you about linux, so building your own is sure to, either that or it will destroy your sanity
<0> hab: yes his linux box is also water resistant
<0> he's talking to you from the shower
<9> hehehe
<15> keyboard is,
<15> monitor is behind perspex
<9> but why when I run a program in linux it's take some time
