<0> encrypting a file with 1024000000 bytes, there is a resulting file of 1024000008 bytes and tigercrypt is locked with the progress dialog up (and it hasn't redrawn itself)
<0> just did it again
<1> Christian_, basicly, if your UI design calls for you to make a JComboBox containing a JComboBox, you need to redesign. Because that's just bad form.
<0> actually, I should note that the first files that I'd encrypted were fine
<0> I have two instances of tigercrypt running
<2> Interesting, thx.
<0> for both instances, the second time I try to encrypt, it fails
<1> dibblego, sounds like you need to debug
<3> sholom: dont think so
<0> if I could reproduce it with smaller files, I would
<4> Christian_: you can probably do it with a custom renderer, but .. eww
<0> takes 15 minutes to find out the problem
<1> Christian_, yes, you need to redesign. A JComboBox is a list item where you get a single list of options and choose one. If you need secondary choices based on the list in the first combobox, you'd place a second combobox below or next to the first one.
<5> he got tired
<5> hihi
<3> sholom: ok, i wanted to group some choices in the combobox. another combobox would be possible, but the users wont like it. thx 4 the help

<4> Christian_: try it both ways and see
<4> you know what I love? weather forecasts
<0> I like the ones that have a picture of a sun and clouds
<0> at least I know that either the sun or clouds will be in the sky tomorrow
<4> there's a huge difference between sun and clouds, just sun, and just clouds
<0> but there is always sun and clouds
<0> soemtimes just different size clouds
<0> a big sun and little clouds
<1> We had several days last week with no clouds at all
<0> then you just didn't look at the sky for the entire day
<0> you need hard evidence to prove the weather report guilty
<0> tigercrypt just died again - and I restarted
<4> yesterday you couldn't see the sun for all the clouds, you could only pinpoint an approximate direction of it within like 20 deg
<4> pinpoint approximations. yes, that's it.
<4> anyways
<0> "sunshine with the chance of a shower"
<0> every single day of my life can be described that way
<4> that's because you live in australia
<4> anyways
<4> it's a really great example of computing for the m***es
<0> if I lived further south, it would be "sunshine with a chance of shower or snow"
<0> if North Korea have their way, it will be "no chance of sunshine or rain, just nuclear fallout"
<4> you use m***ive computing to solve direct problems for the average slob. not specialized computing for a select few, not computing for the sake of computing or academia
<0> I'm gonig to guess that meteorology is the second biggest use of computing power
<4> you think?
<4> what's first?
<0> intelligence
<4> if that counts, I'd guess physics
<0> the largest privately owned supercomputer in the southern hemisphere is NZ meteorology
<0> which was sold to them by DSD - Australian intelligence agency
<0> DSD had to upgrade to 64 bit :)
<4> haha
<4> hahaI bet the major use is WoW
<0> they all use Solaris
<4> or cs
<0> I have to take a google earth image for my defence
<0> google earth is windows only I think
<0> oh wait, the latest release supports linux
<1> Gemse.
<0> do any of you gits use google earth?
<0> how do I see suburbs?
<1> Soom in
<1> *Zoom
<1> They're usually streamed with city names, iirc
<0> I see the city name, but not suburbs
<0> the city is Brisbane
<4> wee
<6> (+:
<4> dibblego: how is "git" used in australia?
<0> it's a playful insult
<6> 'lo zen
<4> what insults do you have that aren't playful?
<0> none really
<4> how about "abo"
<0> that's not an insult
<0> unless there's an abo nearby
<4> haha
<4> how about "senior architect"
<1> dibblego, apparently, Google Earth doesn't have registered names for Brisbanian suburbs

<0> yeah some of them showed up for me
<0> but I'm using a Refidex as well now
<0> I specifically need Barbour Road Bracken Ridge
<6> alright. who did that?
<1> ..."Barbour Road Bracken Ridge"...? That sounds... advanced..
<0> that's up the road
<0> Bracken Ridge is the suburb
<0> my house isn't built yet
<1> Mine is
<0> the street that I allegedly committed an offence on is there
<4> washing my hair is a bitch, but at least it's cozy fluffy when I'm through
<7> i need a hair cut
<0> I need a degrees symbol
<6> i need an msaccess driver that works with hibernate
<0> is there a character map on Linux?
<1> koala_man, why is washing your hair a bitch? You got an afro? Or dreadlocks?
<0> Police vehicle: 27'22.38"S 153'16.70"E
<0> Defendant: 27'25.29"S 153'33.09"E
<0> there's gotta be a way to calculate the distance between the two
<6> there is
<6> offhand, i'd say convert those figures into proper decimals
<6> then since you know the circumference of Earth, and know that there are 360 degrees of long around
<0> yeah I've done that before
<6> doesn't give the desired result?
<0> no, I'm just too lazy
<0> I figure computers could be useful
<1> Also, degrees longtitude and lattitude doesn't map linearly to distances
<0> my guess is about 400 metres
<6> sholom, true, but it's possible to calculate the angular separation too, iirc
<1> dibblego, 0.28 miles
<1> 458 metres
<1> All hail Google Earth
<0> how did you do it?
<1> Used the ruler
<0> what about:
<0> Defendant: 27'25.29"S 153'33.09"E
<0> Intersection end curb: 27'25.56"S 153'34.80"E
<6> you on the pro version?
<0> 3.0.0762 Windows
<1> I'm using 4.0 beta
<6> same here
<0> there ain't no ruler here
<0> there is "Measure" where you can draw a line
<0> care to tell me the otehr distance?
<6> there's a scale legend
<1> dibblego, 47 meters
<0> cheers
<6> check the view menu
<0> there's no scale legend here
<6> view menu?
<6> dibblego, 4.0.1565
<0> bleh, I hate running windows
<0> makes me feel edgy
<0> my research for the evening is done
<6> oh dear
<0> dear?
<1> dibblego, didn't you download the Linux version of Google Earth 4?
<0> no, I ran Windows in vmware
<0> I don't want to install it on my linux machine
<1> Why not?
<0> because it might break stuff and it's too late at night to fix it
<0> g'night
<6> 'night
<4> the forecast says it'll be 24C and sunny with clouds when I get off work
<4> straight do da beech, to roll around in the sun like a stranded whale
<1> Be sure to take pictures
<6> yay
<4> I took one yesterday, but due to the clouds, it didn't come out very well
<1> I've always wanted a poster in my room with koala_man on it, pretending to be a beached whale
<4> I'm sure you'll be delighted to know that this is a nude beach
<7> crap
<7> i hate what i am doing right now.
<7> how in a hell someone create a db Structure that fits his need for his interface and forget about the problem itself
